Fox 40 News with Bethany Crouch visits CrossFit Centurion to see how SSD SED (SWAT) is put through the paces utilizing CrossFit as their weekly PT program!

The workouts used by SED are meant to enhance team cohesion by working together or as small cells with movements that have a strong carryover to the rigors and requirements of SWAT operators on calls. As in the first segment, sled pulls (forward and backward) mimic the need to drag a body or equipment. Hammer strikes are important to develop hip drive and power for breaching. Sandbag carries enhance the operators awareness and ability to clean something to their shoulders (body, equipment, etc) and run with it. In the other segments Pull ups and rope climbs are used to develop strength and proprioceptive awareness for pulling one's body up into positions or pulling heavy objects towards them. We allow the operators to kip in ther pull ups since that is the manner in which they will realistically move to get a fully loaded body driven upwards. Strict weighted pull ups are used regulalrly to enhance pulling power and raw strength. Handstand Push Ups develop an incredible amount or pressing strength for overhead movements that may be required and the ManMakers are a phenomenal conditioning tool to develop work capacity, whic is paramount when wearing 70 Lbs of gear over long time durations. In the end, these guys learn how to move "large loads, long distances in the shortest time" As you may recall, that is the mathematical formula for "Power" and power equals improved fitness!

SED operators will tell you they are fitter than they ever were before and if there is one team of guys you want lean, mean and in full fight mode for the long haul, it's your SWAT team. Once again, SED leads the way in their representation of their profession and standards for SWAT operators!
