Below is a good article in which strength coach Charles Poliquin conducted some research into the negative side effects of prolonged endurance based training, often thought of as the best bet for overall health. While many of us in the CF community have converted our mindset to knowing the pitfalls of constant LSD/oxidative work, there are plenty more out there who just don’t get it. There is a genetic basis to the best forms of exercise and diet and CrossFit has tapped into those roots. For the endurance athlete, CrossFit Endurance has really forged ahead in figuring it out. The article is pretty good although there could be some more follow up work to really solidify the findings, but still, it hits the nail on the head.
